What is CPF (AC ) Exam ?

The Union Public Service Commission conducts written examination for recruitment of Assistant Commandants (Group A) in the Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF) viz. Border Security Force (BSF), Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) and Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB).

Assistant Commandant - One more coveted uniformed job, directly related  to the service of the nation. Assistant Commandant serves as officers in various paramilitary forces mentioned above. All these forces were incepted to do a particular task in particular area, but with changing time these forces are trained to work in every condition and in any kind of demographic area.

To be a part of these forces is really a feeling of proud in itself. But the aspirants should keep in mind that to be a part of these forces means to be able to bear every kind of hardship as these force are made to move on a minute notice from one area to another. One has to be really brave and strong person to join these forces as Assistant Commandant. 

To be a Commandant means carrying extra responsibility and motivating his men to be ready for any kind of adversity 24 hours a day and 365 days of the year. Irrespective of all these hard ships there is no dearth of aspirants who wants to join these forces every year and all this is not for acquiring comfort at home, in fact it is for the respect and honor of wearing Indian Paramilitary forces uniform. 

That is why there is a lot of competition to join these forces and only those who are the most competent among the illegible are selected after rigorous written, psychological and physical tests. Only the best among the most eligible are selected and trained so that they can safe guard the country from its inner conflicts and cross border battles. As this job is considered, a tough career and to discharge one s duties one has to be very dedicated towards his work, responsible, brave, hardworking and full of courage. 

To be an Assistant Commandant one has to undergo a selection process of written and physical exams to ensure the best few among the many aspirants.

Eligibility CPF (AC)

Age Limit :
The candidate must have attained the age of 20 years  and must not have attained 25 years of age on that date. Relaxation in upper age limit for SC/ ST candidates by 5 years and for OBC by 3 years.

Educational Qualification :
To be eligible for becoming an Assistant Commandant one should hold a Bachelor's degree in any stream. Those appearing in the final year exam of their degree course are also eligible to apply, subject to their qualifying in the exam.

Possession of NCC  B or C certificate or outstanding sports or athletic certificate is an added qualification.

Physical Standards:

For Male
Height         165 cms
Chest           81 cms unexpanded (with 5 cms minimum expansion)
Weight        Proportionate to height
Eye sight -   Refer to the official notification for specific details.

For Female
Height         157 cms
Weight        Proportionate to height but not less than 46 kgs
Eye sight -   Refer to the official notification for specific details.

Scheme of the Examination CPF (AC)

There will be negative marking in Objective Type Question Paper. Physical and medical standards test will be conducted only for those candidates who qualify the written examination.  
Physical Standards/Physical Efficiency Tests and Medical Standards Tests: Candidates who are qualified in the written examination will be called for the Physical Standards/Physical Efficiency Tests and Medical Standards Tests.

Physical Efficiency Tests (PET):

(a) 100 Meters race In 16 seconds In 18 seconds
(b) 800 Meters race In 3 minutes 45  seconds In 4 minutes 45 seconds
(c) Long Jump 3.5 Meters (3 chances) 3.0 Meters (3 chances)
(d) Shot-put(7.26kgs) 4.5 meters ----

At the time of physical efficiency test (PET) if the female candidate is pregnant then she will be disqualified. 

Interview: Interview will carry 150 Marks. The qualified candidates in the Medical Standards Tests, will be called for Interview. Candidates who are short-listed for Interview / Personality Test, including those short-listed for Interview / Personality Test provisionally will be issued a Detailed Application Form (DAF) in which among other things, they will be required to indicate their preference of services. As female candidates are eligible for appointment to CRPF, CISF and BSF only, they will be required to indicate their preference between these 3 services only. 

Final selection: On the basis of written examination and Interview, final selection list will be prepared.
