What is IBPS Bank Clerk Exam ?

 Institute of Banking Personnel Selection (IBPS) is an autonomous agency in India, which started its operation in 1975 as Personnel Selection Services (PSS). In 1984, IBPS became an independent entity at the behest of Reserve Bank of India (RBI) and Public Sector Banks. IBPS is envisioned as self-governed academic and research oriented Institute, with a mission of enhancing human-resource development through personnel assessment. In 2011, IBPS announced a common written examination (CWE) for the selection Officers and Clerks in Indian banks. IBPS CWE is now mandatory for anyone who seeks an employment in 20 public sector and Regional Rural banks. IBPS periodically accepts the exam applications from the candidates at their website www.ibps.in, and the exams are organized at various locations in the country either in online or offline mode. 


Eligibility IBPS

Age Limit : *Minimum: 20 years Maximum: 28 years. 

Educational Qualification : Degree (Graduation) in any discipline from a recognized University or any equivalent qualification recognized as such by the Central Government.

Computer Literacy : Operating and working knowledge in computer systems is mandatory i.e.candidates should have Certificate/Diploma/Degree in computer operations/Language/ should have studied Computer / Information Technology as one of the subjects in the High School/College/Institute. 

**Proficiency in the Official Language of the State/UT (candidates should know how to read/write and speak the Official Language of the State/UT) for which vacancies a candidate wishes to apply is preferable. (Some questions may be put at the time of interview to ascertain the candidate’s familiarity with the Official Language of the State/UT).

The above tests except the Test of English Language will be available bilingually, i.e. English and Hindi.IBPS reserves the right to modify the structure of the examination which will be intimated through its website. Other detailed information regarding the examination will be given in an Information Handout, which will be made available for the candidates to download along with the call letters from the authorised IBPS website www.ibps.in.

II. Penalty for Wrong AnswersThere will be penalty for wrong answers marked in the Objective Tests. For each question for which a wrong answer has been given by the candidate one fourth or 0.25 of the marks assigned to that question will be deducted as penalty to arrive at corrected score. If a question is left blank, i.e. no answer is marked by the candidate, there will be no penalty for that question.

III. Scores
The corrected scores obtained by each of the candidates in different sessions (if held) will be normalized using equipercentile method.

IV. Cutoff Score
Each candidate will have to secure a minimum score in each test and also on total to be considered to be called for interview. For each State/UT, mere passing in individual tests may not be sufficient as candidates should also score sufficiently high on Total in order of merit to be called for interview.

V. Interview
Candidates who have been shortlisted in the examination for CWE Clerks will subsequently be called for an Interview to be conducted by the Participating Organisations. Interviews will be conducted at select centres. The centre, address of the venue, time & date of Interview will be informed to the shortlisted candidates in the call letter. Candidates are required to download their interview call letters from authorised IBPS website www.ibps.in.
