AFCAT
AFCAT stands for Air Force Common Admission Test. This test is conducted by the Indian Air Force for selection of officers in all branches of the IAF (except medical and dental) viz. Flying Branch (Short Service Commission only), Technical Branch (Permanent Commission and Short Service Commission) and Ground Duty Branch (Permanent Commission and Short Service Commission). AFCAT is conducted twice a year (in the month of February and August). The advertisement for the same is published in the months of December and June respectively.
Applications are invited from Male and Female from Indian citizens as per Citizenship Act 1955 for the following courses commencing in January for grant of Short Service Commission in Flying Branch and Permanent / Short Service Commission in Technical and Ground Duty branches.

1. Flying Branch:
(a) Short Service Commission (SSC) For men and Women
Eligibility Criteria: (1) Flying Branch
Age: 20 to 24 years. Upper age limit for candidates holding valid and current Commercial Pilot Licence issued by DGCA (Indian) is relaxable upto 26 years.
Educational Qualifications: Graduates (minimum 3 years degree course) in any discipline from a recognized university who have attained minimum 60% marks in aggregate in all papers put together and have passed Maths and Physics at 10+2 level or B.E./B.Tech degree (4 year course) from a recognized university with minimum 60% marks in aggregate in all papers put together Candidates who have failed the
Pilot Aptitude Battery Test (PABT) in an earlier attempt or a Flight Cadet suspended from flying training at Air Force Academy will not be eligible to apply.
2. Ground Duty (Technical Branch) :
(a) Permanent Commission for men
(b) Short Service Commission For men and Women
Aeronautical Engineer (Electronics) AE (L): Candidates applying for AE (L) branch would be eligible if they have undergone a minimum of four year degree qualification from a recognized university or cleared Sections A and B examination of Associate membership examination of the institute of electronics and telecommunication engineers by actual studies.
Aeronautical Engineer (Mechanical) AE (M): Candidates applying for AE (M) branch would be eligible if they have undergone a minimum of four year degree qualification from a recognized university or cleared Section A and B examination of Associate Membership of Institution of Engineers (India) or Aeronautical Society of India by actual studies.
All candidates applying for AE (L) / AE (M) branch should have scored a minimum of 60% marks in aggregate in all papers.
3. Ground Duty (Non - Technical Branch) :
(a) Permanent Commission For men
(b) Short Service Commission For men and Women
Administration and Logistics: Graduate Degree (Minimum three years degree course) in any discipline with a minimum of 60% marks in aggregate of all papers or a Post Graduate Degree / equivalent Diploma in any discipline with a minimum of 50% marks in aggregate of all papers.
Accounts: Graduate Degree in Commerce (B.Com) (Minimum three year degree course) with a minimum of 60% marks in aggregate of all papers put together or Post Graduate Degree in Commerce (M.Com) / CA / ICWA with a minimum of 50% marks in aggregate of all papers.
Education: Post Graduate Degree in any discipline with a minimum of 50% marks in aggregate of all papers.
Age: 20 to 26 years for Ground Duty (both Technical & Non-Technical Branch)
