SSC CGL TIER-1
SSC CGL Tier-1 Exam is
the first stage, conducted through online mode i.e (CBT) Computer Based Test
Total No. of questions for Tier-1 Exam are 100 having 4 sections, each section
contains 25 questions. Each question
carries 2 marks, total weightage of 200 marks and time duration is 1 hr. There
is a Negative Marking is of 0.50 marks for each wrong answer). For General

SSC CGL - Tier-2
Tier-2 is the 2nd Phase
for SSC CGL Exam for those candidates who have qualified their Tier-1 stage. It
is also an online mode exam (Computer Based test). Students need to score
minimum (Category wise) cut off marks as well as they need to maximize
their score to be in selection list. SSC CGL Tier-2 Exam Pattern comprises with
4 papers.
Paper-1 and Paper-2 is
compulsory for all those candidates who get passed in their CGL Tier-1 exam.
Paper-3 is for those
candidates who have applied for Statistical Investigator Post and Paper-4 is
for those candidates who have applied for C&AG and Assistant. Audit
Officer. All 4 Papers have individual Duration of 2 hours.
Paper-1 (Quantitative
Abilities) : It comprises with 100 questions and
each question carries 2 marks. The overall weightage for this paper is 200
marks, There is negative marking of 0.50 marks (for each wrong answer).
Paper-2 (English &
Comprehension) :It comprises with 100 questions, each
question carries 2 marks, The overall weightage for this paper is 200 marks,
There is a negative marking of 0.25 marks (for each wrong answer).
Paper-3 :
It comprises with Statistics question, only for those candidates who have
applied for the post of Statistical Investigator Grade II & Compiler.
Duration for this paper is 2 hrs, Comprises with 100 questions, carries 2 marks
for each. There is a negative marking of 0.50 (for each wrong answer).
Paper-4 :
It is for those applicants who have applied for C&AG and Assistant Audit
Officer post. This paper comprises with 2 parts. First part comprises
with Finance and Accounts, carries 40 questions of 80 marks (2 marks for each).
Second part has 60 questions asked from Economics and Governance Section, with 200
marks of 100 questions. There is a negative marking of 0.50 marks (for each
wrong answer).
Skill
Test: For the post of Tax Assistants (Central Excise
& Income Tax): Data Entry Speed Test (DEST) at 8,000 Key Depression per
hour on Computer. The “Data Entry Speed†Skill Test at 2000 key depressions for
a duration of 15 minutes will be of
qualifying nature. Computer will be provided by the Commission at the Centre / venue
notified for the purpose. Candidates shall not be allowed to bring their own
Keyboard. The Skill test will be conducted in the manner decided by the
Commission for the purpose. Only those candidates who secure at least the minimum
qualifying marks in the written examination will be eligible to appear in the
SKILL TEST. The SKILL TEST will be held at the Commission's Regional / Sub
Regional Offices or at other Centres. OH candidates opting for the post of Tax
Assistant in CBDT are exempted for appearing in skill test. OH candidates
opting for post of Tax Assistant in CBEC are not exempted from skill test. HH
and VH candidates are not eligible for exemption from the skill test. Detailedinstructions
regarding Skill Test will be sent by the Regional / Sub Regional Offices of the
Commission to eligible candidates declared qualified for appearing in Skill
Test. VH candidates may be allowed compensatory time of 20 minutes in DEST at
par with typing test. Only those VH candidates who opt for scribes in the
written examination will be provided passage reader at the time of skill test.
The Skill Test will be of qualifying nature.
The Commission will
hold Computer Proficiency Test (CPT), comprising of three modules- Word Processing,
Spread Sheet and Generation of Slides, for applicants for the post of Assistant
Section Officer of CSS. The CPT will be conducted in the manner decided by the
Commission for the purpose. CPT will be of qualifying nature. Scheme of DOPT for the post of Assistant Section
Officer in CSS does not envisage exemption from CPT for any category of PH
candidates. Detailed instructions regarding CPT will be sent by the Regional /
Sub Regional Offices of the Commission to eligible candidates declared
qualified for appearing in the CPT.24 Detailed instructions on DEST ( Data
Entry Skill Test) and CPT (Computer Proficiency Test) are / will be available on
the Commission's website www.ssc.nic.in.
Physical
standards for the post of Inspector (Central Excise / Examiner / Preventive
Officer / Inspector & Sub-Inspector in CBN):
Male Candidates:
(i) Physical Standards:
Height
157.5 cms. , Chest 81 cms. (fully expanded with a minimum expanses of 5 cms.)
Height relaxable
by 5 cms. In the case of Garwalis, Assamese, Gorkhas and members of Scheduled
Tribes.
ii) Physical Test:
Walking : 1600 metres in 15 minutes. Cycling : 8 Kms. in 30
minutes.
Female Candidates: i) Physical standards
(Minimum): Height 152 cms. Weight 48 Kgs. Height relaxable by
2.5 cms. Weight by 2 Kgs. for Gorkhas, Garwalis, Assamese and Members of
Scheduled Tribes
ii) Physical Test : Walking : 1 Km. in 20 minutes. Cycling : 3 Kms. in 25 minutes.
Physical standards for the Post of Sub- Inspector in Central Bureau of Investigation:
a) Height
For men - 165 cms. For women - 150 cms. Height relaxable for Hillsmen and Tribals : 5 cms.
b) Chest
: 76
cms. with expansion (There shall be no such requirement in case of female candidates)
c) Vision : Eye-sight (with or without glasses) Distant vision : 6/6 in one and 6/9 in the other eye. Near vision 0.6 in one eye and 0.8 in other eye.
Physical standards for the Post of Sub- Inspector in National Investigation Agency:
a)
Height
For men - 170 cms. For women - 150 cms. Height relaxable for Hillsmen and
Tribals : 5 cms.
b)

76 cms. with expansion (There shall be no such requirement in case of female
candidates)
c)
Vision :
Eye-sight (with or without glasses) Distant vision : 6/6 in one and 6/9 in the
other eye. Near vision 0.6 in one eye and 0.8 in other eye.
SSC CGL Tier-3 (Descriptive Paper)
After
qualifying SSC CGL Tier-2 Stage, you will be called for Tier-3 Exam. Marks of
Tier-1 & Tier-2 will be considered. Those candidates who cross the mark of
minimum qualifying marks in both Tiers and rank high in Merit List will be called
for Tier-3 Exam. Instead of Interview, SSC added Descriptive Paper in English
or Hindi to check the writing ability of the candidate.
This paper comprises with Essay Writing of 200 to 250 words and Letter or Application writing of 150 to 200 words. Total time duration for Descriptive Paper is 1 hr. And you have to choose your language Hindi / English to write paper and It is worth mentioning here that other regional language is not applicable. Minimum Qualifying marks is 33% only.Questions in Descriptive Paper will be of 12th Level.
SSC CGL Tier-4 Computer Proficiency Test
Those
candidates who get minimum qualifying marks
in all the three tiers and after that they all will be called for
Tier-4. This tier comprises of Data Entry Skill and (CPT) Computer Proficiency
Test. And those candidates who have applied for Tax Assistant Post they all
have to appear for Skill Test (In Central Excise and Income Tax) and those
candidates who have applied for Assistant Section officer post, have to appear
for Computer Proficiency Test. For further details about Skill Test and
